ANYONE have any ideas as to how I can perform automated online backups of a Jade Development database? I have an app - based on the DBA class examples - that does an online backup but can't run it outside the JDE thanks to the splash screen.

Can't you leave this app always running - or even better make it start up along aide the database server (by using the "ServerApplication1=schemaName,appName" setting in the [JadeServer] section of the ini file the database server ses)? Have it always running and start a timer that will fire off the backup process every so often, or one a day at 11pm or whetever you need.

Another option could be to make your backup application non-gui and run it via jadclient.exe rather than via jade.exe.

You could use the free JADECare Start schema (aka CardSchema) and execute application KcDatabaseBackup. This uses ini file settings to specify the backup directory and performs an online backup of the database only.

This can be initiated via logic using startApplication or via command line script.
