How to Set Up JADE with a Minimal Repository Size Set Up Procedure
1. Install JADE from the original CD ROM.
2. Move the _sys*.* files from the C:\JADE\SYSTEM\ directory to the C:\JADE\BIN directory and make them
Read Only. This directory is now very small and will increase as you create new schemas, classes, code
and so on.
3. Using NotePad to update the JADE.INI file. Find the [PersistentDb] section and the line that reads
SystemFileDirectory=<default>
Change it to read
SystemFileDirectory= C:\JADE\BIN
Repository User Files
This is a list of the files stored in the C:\JADE\SYSTEM directory include: _control.dat
_jadeapp.dat (Version 4.0.10 only)
_jadedef.dat ( Version 4.0.10 only)
_mmedia.dat
_monitor.dat
_stats.dat
_userdef.dat
_usergui.dat
_userint.dat
_userscm.dat
_userxrf.dat
Plus any map files created by the user. For example if you created a map file called DemoMap then you would see the a file called DemoMap.dat in this directory.
Note When creating Map Files the user must not include a full path name. Instead just enter the mapfile
name. The file is then created in the C:\JADE\SYSTEM.
Backingup Your Schema and Data Files
To backup your schema and data files simply copy the files from the C:\JADE\SYSTEM directory to someplace else such as a floppy disk.
When restoring these files you will need to reset the timeStamps on the data files. Run the JADE DB Utility and select Operation | Reset TimeStamps and add all files.
